Brandon Van Dyk

Graduated: May 2014 M.S.

Graduate Research Assistant

Education

2011 B.S. (Engineering, International Civil / Environmental Concentration) Calvin College Grand Rapids, MI
2014 M.S. (Civil Engineering) University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Professional Interests

Brandon earned his Master’s Degree at the University of Illinois in 2014. His M.S. thesis involved the characterization of the North American loading environment at the wheel-rail interface using primarily wheel impact load detector (WILD) data. Throughout his M.S. studies, Brandon participated in a project funded by the Federal Railroad Administration to improve the design and performance of concrete crossties and elastic fastening systems for shared-use infrastructure. He was a member and active participant in AREMA Committee 30 (Ties).

M.S. Thesis:

CHARACTERIZATION OF THE LOADING ENVIRONMENT FOR SHARED-USE RAILWAY SUPERSTRUCTURE IN NORTH AMERICA
