Jeremiah Dirnberger

Graduated: August 2006 - M.S.

Jeremiah Dirnberger received his B.S. degree in Industrial and Management Engineering from Montana State University in 2003. He entered the University of Illinois in fall 2004 and received his M.S. in Civil Engineering with a focus on railroad engineering in 2006.

Professional Interests

As an undergrad, he was a member of a design team that won 1st place in the 2003 College Industry Council on Material Handling Education National Student Design Competition and he was also awarded 1st place in the 2003 Institute of Industrial Engineers Region VII technical paper competition. His research was an analysis of the factors that contribute to unstable operations at railroad classification terminals. By conducting a series of individual terminal case studies, determined how soon unstable operational trends can be identified and what proactive measures should be taken. He took a systems approach and adapted methodologies that have worked well in manufacturing process improvement in the areas of statistical process capability assessment and control, variability reduction and operations management.
