Professional Interests

Alexander Lovett is a doctoral candidate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) working in the Rail Transportation and Engineering Center (RailTEC). His research interests are in the areas of track maintenance economics and optimization. He is currently developing a model to understand the potential costs and benefits associated with various track maintenance activities and then compare various projects to select those that provide the best return to the railroad. Key parts of this are understanding the relationship between track improvement and risk reduction as well as determining the monetary cost associated with delayed trains. To augment his research, Mr. Lovett is concurrently pursuing a Masters of Business Administration.

Honors

2012-2014 Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship recipient
