Keynote Speakers for the Symposium:

The organizers of the 2012 International Concrete Crosstie and Fastening System Symposium are excited to announce the two keynote speakers:

Dr. Stephan Freudenstein, Technical University of Munich, Germany

Dr. Alex Remennikov, University of Wollongong, Australia

Biographies

Dr. Freudenstein

Professor Stephan Freudenstein obtained his degree in Civil Engineering in 1995 from the Technical University of Munich. From 1995 to 1997, he was employed by the construction company Heilit + Wörner Bau-AG of Munich. From 1997 to 2002, Prof. Fruedenstein was employed as Scientific Assistant at the Chair of Road, Railway, and Airfield Construction at Technische Universität München. In 2001, he was awarded a PhD for work on anchor fittings in concrete track slabs. From 2002 to 2008, Prof. Fruedenstein was General Manager of the Department of Engineering and Development at the company RAIL.ONE GmbH. Since 2008 he has been Professor and Head of Chair and Institute of Road, Railway and Airfield Construction at Technical University of Munich, Germany.

Dr. Remennikov

Dr. Alex Remennikov is an Associate Professor of structural engineering at the School of Civil, Mining and Environmental Engineering, University of Wollongong, Australia. He received his PhD in dynamics of structures from the Kiev National Technical University of Construction, Ukraine, followed by post-doctoral studies in dynamics of building structures at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. His current research focuses on the investigation of response of concrete sleepers to extreme loads and the development of methodology for predicting remaining life of concrete sleepers. He has participated in a number of large projects addressing remaining life of sleepers in heavy haul coal lines in Australia.
