Professional Interests

Xiang Liu's PhD dissertation research dealt with train safety analysis, risk analysis of railroad hazardous materials transportation and the identification, evaluation and integration of various strategies to reduce rail transportation risk in the most costefficient manner. Some of his research results have been used by railroads in their risk management decisions and by the Association of American railroads (AAR) in developing and evaluating safety and risk policy.
