Professional Interests

Dr. Chen-Yu Lin is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in RailTEC at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He obtained his bachelor’s degree from National Taiwan University and a Masters and Ph.D. in civil engineering from UIUC. Dr. Lin leads research and coordinates industry projects in various rail safety fields including statistical and causal analyses of railroad accidents, quantitative risk analyses for hazardous material transportation, shared-use rail corridor risk assessments, and international rail safety evaluations. Dr. Lin manages the rail safety and risk group in RailTEC, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
