Professional Interests

Vitor obtained his bachelor’s degree from the Federal University of Sao Joao del Rei, Brazil. During his undergraduate studies, he has assisted as a teaching assistant for three undergraduate classes, worked with solar energy, and designed and built an aircraft with his SAE student chapter team that won 1st place in the 2019 national Student Aero Design contest in Brazil. Vitor worked for more than a year for Diefra, a company appointed to assist one of the largest railroads in Brazil, MRS, in managing and supervising its infrastructure and processes. Being part of their Strategy Engineering Department, he was responsible for inspecting railway tracks, signals, turnouts, and other related components using processed images and data collected with drone surveys. Vitor’s research interests are analyzing track data to develop track health indices to prioritize maintenance activities.
