November 2016: The 18th Annual Railroad Environmental Conference, held November 1–2 on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus, was a resounding success. This two day conference had over 70 presentations and 542 people registered – a new conference record! The participants that came the farthest to attend travelled from Germany. Among the changes this year was a new conference mobile app. Almost half of the attendees signed up and used the app which allowed them to view the conference agenda, create their own agenda of sessions to attend, post photos and messages to the conference bulletin board, and exchange business card information electronically.
