November 2015: RailTEC hosted AREMA Committee 2 (Track Measurement Systems) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on November 10 – 11, 2015. Approximately 35 members met for meetings as well as a tour of RailTEC’s Research and Innovation Laboratory (RAIL) located in the Harry Schnabel, Jr. building on the CERL campus. This was a busy year for RailTEC as they hosted three different AREMA committee meetings on the Illinois campus. Besides Committee 2, Committee 16 (Economics of Railway Engineering & Operations) met in April and Committee 13 (Engineering Services Functional Group) met in October in correlation with the Railroad Environmental Conference.
